350 Built-In Stitch Options

The Atelier 8 supports multiple lettering options, stitch combinations and pattern elongation up to five times, providing additional creative flexibility for personalised and decorative projects.

5-Inch High-Definition Colour LCD Screen

The 5-inch high-definition colour LCD screen measures 64.8 × 108 mm and has a resolution of 480 × 800 pixels.

The resistive-film touch panel provides access to stitch selections, settings and the Sewing Applications menu. With support for 16 languages, the interface accommodates a range of user preferences.

Janome AcuFeed Feeding System

Janome's AcuFeed system helps feed fabric evenly from above and below, making it useful when sewing multiple layers, quilting materials and fabrics that can be challenging to feed consistently.

Compatible AcuFeed feet and attachments are available separately for additional specialist applications.

Floating Mode

Floating Mode allows the presser foot's pressure and height to be adjusted while sewing with straight stitches, without affecting thread tension. The adjustment range is 0–4 mm.

This function offers additional control when working with different fabric types and thicknesses.

A.S.R.® Accurate Stitch Regulator Compatibility

The Atelier 8 is compatible with Janome's A.S.R.® system, designed to help regulate stitch formation during free-motion sewing.

The optional system includes a passive mode that stops the needle when the fabric is not moving. Adjustable sensor sensitivity allows the regulation to be adapted to different sewing techniques and skill levels.

One-Touch Straight Stitch Needle Plate Conversion

Bobbin Thread Sensor

The bobbin thread sensor offers six adjustment levels to measure the thickness of the bobbin thread. This provides additional control when monitoring bobbin thread during sewing.

Automatic Thread Cutter

Trim threads using the dedicated scissors button instead of cutting them manually after every seam. A remote thread cutter port is also provided for a compatible optional accessory.

Automatic Presser Foot Lifter

The automatic presser foot lifter raises the presser foot as required, helping simplify fabric handling and making it easier to manage seams and reposition material.

The machine also includes an adjustable electronic knee lifter for additional control.

Programmable Needle Up/Down

Control where the needle stops when sewing pauses. The needle-down position is the default, helping keep fabric in place when pivoting around corners, sewing curves or matching seams.

Stitch Tapering Function

The stitch tapering function allows compatible stitches to be tapered, creating decorative finishes and additional design possibilities.

Ruler Work Mode

The Atelier 8 includes a dedicated ruler work mode and ruler work foot. These features support ruler-guided free-motion quilting, allowing you to create controlled decorative patterns using suitable quilting rulers.

Variable Zigzag Using the Knee Lifter

Variable zigzag control using the knee lifter provides additional flexibility for compatible sewing and decorative techniques, allowing you to adjust stitch width while keeping your hands available to guide the fabric.

Speed Control and Start/Stop Button

The start/stop button allows sewing without continuously operating the foot control, while the speed control slider lets you set a suitable maximum sewing speed.

The machine operates at speeds of up to 1,060 stitches per minute for straight stitching, with a minimum speed of 60 stitches per minute.

Superior Feed Dogs and Drop Feed

The seven-piece feed dog system helps move fabric through the machine. Drop-feed functionality supports compatible free-motion sewing and quilting techniques.

Six LED Lights

Six LED lights arranged across three locations illuminate the sewing area, improving visibility when working on detailed projects, dark fabrics and precision stitching.

Spacious Workspace and Free Arm

The Atelier 8 offers 210 mm (8.3 inches) of workspace to the right of the needle, with a height of 120 mm (4.7 inches).

The free arm extends 100 mm from the needle area, making it useful for sewing suitable tubular items and smaller garment sections. The machine also converts between free-arm and flat-bed configurations.

Stitch Composer and USB Connectivity

The Stitch Composer PC software, supplied as a download version, allows you to create custom stitch designs. The machine's USB port supports adding stitches created with Stitch Composer.

The machine can store and recall stitch combinations, with up to 100 combinations and up to 3 MB of pattern combination storage and recall capacity.
